Connecting People... Managing Ideas... Affirming Life. A short summary with a long history. Actually social work is my primary profession, but after thirty years of hearing the incredible life stories of people struggling against the odds, and after travelling around Africa as a humanitarian worker with the World Health Organisation from 2003 to 2005, I discovered something of a talent for writing.

The interconnection between environmental, humanitarian and public health concerns in Africa is my beat. Academic writing comes naturally, but I want to connect ordinary people to the extraordinary things that are happening on earth. I do best when an issue of general concern needs to brought to life in the personal stories of real people, because when you think about it 'problems' don't exist - only people with problems.
